A distressing video circulating online shows an army personnel brutally killing a stray dog within the army camp area in Pallavaram, Chennai, on April 06. The accused was identified as A. Paidu Raju, a Lance Havildar of the 16 Madras Regiment. The footage depicts Raju mercilessly thrashing the defenseless canine with a stick until it collapsed and died in agonizing pain. An NGO called "People for Animals" alleged that Raju threatened onlookers who attempted to intervene. Deeming him a "danger to society," the NGO urgently appealed to the Indian Army for his removal, emphasizing that such cruelty cannot be ignored. The video has sparked widespread online outrage, with demands for strict action against Raju for the dog's death.
