As the scorching summer heat drives up the watermelon demand, consumers are urged to exercise caution. The Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared a video and suggested precise methods to identify adulterated or fake watermelons. As per FSSAI, one can check the adulteration in watermelon through a simple cotton ball. Cut the watermelon into half and rub the cotton ball on the red pulp of the fruit. If it is adulterated, the cotton ball will become red. It can be estimated that the chemical called erythrosine has been added to this watermelon. Several social media users shared the shocking result after trying the FSSAI-recommended method.

Netizens Try FSSAI-Recommended Method
This morning I bought a watermelon and read this news while scrolling through Twitter. Then I cut the watermelon and rubbed cotton on it and it turned red. Is this watermelon made using chemicals?

Are There?
Are there any adulteration testing agencies in Bhopal? ? Bought watermelon in Bhopal and tested for chemical presence (cotton rub test)- it turned red instantly, indicating adulteration with the carcinogen chemical. Would be helpful if u take action.
