The Sunburn festival which was scheduled to take place from December 27 to 29 in Vagator has been cancelled for the dates. The festival organisers took to Twitter announcing that the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival has been rescheduled to another date. The Goa government which had earlier given permission for conducting the event revoked the permission after concerns from the general public criticising the move. After the permissions were rolled away, social media users looked relieved as thousands were going to attend the event during COVID-19 pandemic, posing a threat during the current times. Dy CM, Manohar Ajgaonkar on Friday announced that the Goa government has decided to cancel the in-principle permission given to the festival due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Sunburn on Twitter wrote, "We are overwhelmed by the response we received from our fans across India and globally." It further says, "We have been constantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation both in Goa across India. The plans for hosting a small, safe and socially distanced Sunburn event was made in view of the gradually improving situation and in anticipation of this to continue."

Considering the situation, Percept Live, the creators of Sunburn festival had decided to live stream the event on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube with an aim to reach out to a wider fan base. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Goa currently has 2,065 active COVID-19 cases.
